First Android on Demand by Indosat Wiigo

In the event Indonesian Cellular Show (ICS) 2010 Indosat introduced a product called Indosat Wiigo. Package consists of Qwerty an Android phone and internet services on demand like BlackBerry BIS ( Blackberry Internet Service )

Not only BlackBerry On Demand, Indosat also has Android On Demand services. Indosat plans to bundle these services with Wiigo Android On Demand.  Wiigo is  a local brand Android QWERTY phone. A special chip with Indosat APN will be immersed in the Wiigo Android phone. Consumers will be able to choose their own type of service desired by Indosat Wiigo Android On Demand.

Basic Concept of USSD

USSD or unstructured Supplementary Service Data is a unique technology which is only owned by the GSM. This technology is intended for the exchange of information in text form through the channel signals from a GSM network.

USSD differs from the other short message bearer, SMS   It is not a store-and-forward bearer like SMS, but a transparent session-based bearer ideal for transacting. Information is delivered and responses obtained in real-time. Simply put, USSD is similar to speaking to someone on a phone as SMS is sending a letter. USSD is also not a point-to-point bearer such as SMS. One subscriber cannot send another text using USSD unless there is a special network application offering such an application.

One can send 182 characters using USSD, but SMS only allows for 140 x 8-bit, or 160 x 7-bit characters. Like SMS, USSD uses the GSM control channels for data transfer. SMS and USSD both use the SDCCH (stand-alone dedicated control channel) when the handset is not in a call. When the handset is busy with a call, USSD will use the FACCH (fast associated control channel) with a significant improvement in transfer speed (1 Kbps).

Basic Concept Signalling System No. 7

SS7 also known as Common Channel Signaling System 7 (CCS7) that uses channels separate from the communications channels for signaling and control purposes. SS7 significantly speeds call setup and call completion processes, allows access to databases that enable toll-free calling and number portability, and supports the CLASS (Customer Local Access Signaling Services) services such as caller ID, name ID, selective ringing (or priority ringing), selective call forwarding, call block (or call screen), repeat dial, call trace, and automatic call-back (call return).
It is optimized for use in digital telecommunication networks and designed to meet present and future information transfer requirements to provide reliable means for the transfer of information.
Here I try to discuss about elements of SS7 : Signalling Network, Signalling Point, Signaling Link, signaling Linkset and Signaling Route, and SS7 Transfer Mode.

When you change BIS service

For you a blackberry user and use Blackberry Internet Service ( BIS ), maybe you feel that your current blackberry service is not make you satisfied or unworthed service. Sometimes when you want to buy new blackberry you afraid that your new blackberry PIN  already registered as previous user in an operator.
This is some suggest steps you should do before you change BIS operator. I think such mobile operator should have good cooperation with customers for this purpose. So don’t think difficult for changing BIS operator, or make you object moving to another BIS service. Just make cooperation with your BIS operator when you want to change BIS service to another one.
