In previous article i wrote that Blackberry without BIS BES is nothing. I think that is still true, because Blackbery device is design to collaborate with BIS and BES service to get satisfation in service such as browsing, email and chatting. We cannot use some services like Blackberry Messenger, original Blackberry messenger, push email BIS, etc.
What we can do is how to optimize Blackberry without subscribe BIS and BES mobile operator.
Altough we can subscribe BIS and BES service monthly, weekly, and daily, some of mobile subscribers have several reasons not using BIS for their Blackberry.
Blackberry without BIS and BES cannot use BIS and BES service such as browsing, push email and chatting.
But we can use another software to be able get those services.
Without BIS and BES we cannot use browser blackberry. This browser is important to download some installer like *.jad. We can do install some softwares using OTA ( over the air ) method. Installing Blackberry application via OTA link is very enjoyable. So how to activate browser function in blackberry browser without subscribe BIS and BES ?
First we have to change our APN ( Access Point Name ) from blackberry APN blackberry.net to our Operator APN. You can change it in Menu – Option – Advanced – TCP. As default if use BIS and BES the APN will be blank.
Next, we should replace our original service book blackberry with modified service book which already edited to make our blackberry browser can be used for browsing without BIS and BES service.
I refresh again that service book is list of configuration in blackberry device to make sure that our configuration for using email, browsing, chat already defined correctly. You can check your service book in menu – options – advanced – service book.
To get your blackberry browser can be used without BIS and BES, please replace your service book with this file .pd
You can use blackberry desktop manager to open this file and replace to your blackberry device. But please backup first your service book before it be replaced, so you can restore if any problem faced.
To replace your service book, just open your Blackberry Desktop Manager and then choose Backup and Restore – Advanced - Advanced option - Backup and Restore – open file .pd you saved before in your laptop / PC. Here is the example :

As alternate browser, you can also use another browser like Mini Opera. You can download free for that.
For chatting application you can search in google by keyword YMtiny, Jivetalk, eBuddy, and Palringo. After you activate service book and APN operator you can use them.
How about push email ? The most popular service in BIS and BES is push email. If we dont use BIS and BES, we can use as alternate push email software such as ShangMail which using IMAP ( Internet Message Access Protocol ). It can connect our mailbox in internet with our blackberry device using push technology same like BIS or BES application.
But I think the data compression technique from BIS and BES still better than this application, but as functionality it can be used if we dont subscribe BIS and BES because of some reasons.
Another push email is Gmail Apps for gmail subscriber. You can search them easily in google.
The last, as my suggestion please backup your configuration before you edit and replace with new application.
Blackberry device with BIS and BES is like Queen and King which can make more powerful service for subscriber. Just try and be careful for this alternate for you who has blackberry without BIS and BES… : )
