blacklist your IMEI mobile phones when it was stolen !

Everybody has his phone with own purpose. Some of them just follow the trend, fashionable, and style. Some of them choose the function, interoperability, ability and technology about the phone. But they must love their phone and keep it as long as they want.
What I want to say is what you have to do when your mobile phone is stolen. In some countries, we just smile and relax when our mobile phone is stolen by others.
Why ?

If your mobile phones is stolen, we just report it to your operator and block the IMEI number of your mobile phones. Thats it ! and your mobile phones cannot be used anymore by the thief. :)
How can it be done ?
As you know that in telecommunication systemsmobile phones is known as mobile equipment. With a SIM ( Subscriber Identification Module ) card, mobile equipment can do some call and send data SMS to mobile operators. We can say that mobile equipment or mobile phones + SIM card known as mobile stations.
Mobile equipment is a transceiver device which can do call flow or sending data two way direction. It means for receiving and transmitting data.
Every mobile phones or mobile equipment has an IMEI number. IMEI like its name is International Mobile Equipment Identity which indicate the uniqe number of mobile phones.

Related with this article is that person who his mobile phones is stolen can report to mobile operators to block the IMEI number of their mobile phones. As technically, IMEI number can be blocked in device named as EIR ( Equipment Identity Register ).
EIR consists of all mobile phones IMEI registeration, and can do some authentication and screening about status of mobile phones.
EIR can put IMEI phone blocked in whitelist, blacklist or greylist.
All mobile equipment which already approved and authorised will be put in whitelist, and all mobile equipment which not authorised to do some calling and transactions in mobile operators will be put on blacklist.
If your mobile phones is stolen we can ask mobile operators to pur our IMEI mobile phones in blacklist or greylist. Greylist means our mobile phones still can be used, but it will be tracked by receiving alert trigger to network operator for some reasons.

Please see again about basic function and infrastructure of your mobile operators. I describe as basically like this in GSM network :

GSM network

GSM network

But not in every country it is running such as in my country Indonesia that policy cannot be applied in all mobile operators. I think many reasons should be considered before it applied.
We have to register our IMEI to all operator in our country. If not, the thief who steal your mobile phones just changes SIM card or mobile operators and can use your phone again. But i think in a country which dont apply blocking IMEI in EIR, maybe think that the policy taken need several coordination with all operator in the country even they are compete each other.
We can say that the most important is mobile operators can get benefit even it comes from the thief who is calling or sending SMS . In other side the mobile phones owner still be sad of course :) )
