Signaling Link, Signaling Linkset and Signaling Route

After reading basic concept of SS7, we can see the seven layer of SS7. The first three Layer SS7 has function to assure reliability which is known as Message Transfer Part. Here we have

  • Signalling Data Link : Physical, Electrical and Procedural Characteristics.
  • Signalling Link : Error Detection/Correction,Sequencing, Alignment, Link Synchronization and Flow control
  • Signalling Network : Messages and Procedures for Network Management. Responsible for end-to-end routing

The other layer part is 4th layer for user application which has :
SCCP (Signaling Connection Control Part) , TCAP (Transaction Capabilities Application Part ), ISUP (ISDN User Part), TUP (Telephone User Part ). Now I concern  to discuss about first three layer element : Signalling link, Signalling Linkset and Signalling Route which is very important when you setup new network connection.

Wordcamp Indonesia 2010

WordCamp Indonesia 2010 held  on January 30, 2010 in  Gunadarma University with more great speakers like Beau Lebens ( as Lead web developer from Australia who developed Automattic/Intense Debate), Risman Adnan ( Creator of Indonesia .NET Developer Community (INDC) and Windows Server System Indonesia (WSS-ID ), and other great speakers like Michael Koenig, Made Wiryana, Setyagus Sucipto who has experiences in  Content Managment System (CMS) and WordPress e-commerce, and Idris Khanafi who represent of  Indonesian MySQL community.
The aim of WordCamp is to meet people discussing about Wordpress development. Who doesn’t know about WordPress at the moment ?

Basic Concept Signalling System No. 7 - Signalling Point

After discussing SS7 basic concept in signalling network, we continue about Signalling Point ( SP ) and further about Signalling Link, Signalling Linkset and Signalling Route in SS7 Network.
Just to the point, Signaling Point refers to the communication network node equipped with the SS7 system.
The SP is identified via the signaling point code (SPC). The SP generating signaling messages is called the originating signaling point (OPC), and the SP to which the signaling messages are sent is called the destination signaling point (DPC).
DSP  is any SP visible to the OPC in the entire signaling networks where the OPC is located. The DSP with direct signaling link is called adjacent DSP, while the DSP without direct signaling link is called non-adjacent DSP.

Basic Concept Signalling System No. 7

SS7 also known as Common Channel Signaling System 7 (CCS7) that uses channels separate from the communications channels for signaling and control purposes. SS7 significantly speeds call setup and call completion processes, allows access to databases that enable toll-free calling and number portability, and supports the CLASS (Customer Local Access Signaling Services) services such as caller ID, name ID, selective ringing (or priority ringing), selective call forwarding, call block (or call screen), repeat dial, call trace, and automatic call-back (call return).
It is optimized for use in digital telecommunication networks and designed to meet present and future information transfer requirements to provide reliable means for the transfer of information.
Here I try to discuss about elements of SS7 : Signalling Network, Signalling Point, Signaling Link, signaling Linkset and Signaling Route, and SS7 Transfer Mode.

When you change BIS service

For you a blackberry user and use Blackberry Internet Service ( BIS ), maybe you feel that your current blackberry service is not make you satisfied or unworthed service. Sometimes when you want to buy new blackberry you afraid that your new blackberry PIN  already registered as previous user in an operator.
This is some suggest steps you should do before you change BIS operator. I think such mobile operator should have good cooperation with customers for this purpose. So don’t think difficult for changing BIS operator, or make you object moving to another BIS service. Just make cooperation with your BIS operator when you want to change BIS service to another one.

Why SMS text message limited to 160 characters ?

Somebody often ask to me why SMS text messages are limited to 160 characters for one message or one SMS. So I just share with this articles to explain what I know. Even you can send SMS until 960 characters but they are just sent in 6 separated text messages. Back to question why SMS text message limited to 160 characters. To answer that question, we should have basic concept of SMS text message. We have to know about SMS Protocol Description Unit ( PDU ) which is way sending SMS text mode.

White List and Blacklist unwanted number using CallGuard

In the previous article i introduce you about whitelist and blacklist feature for Esia’s subscriber. So in that case, we create blacklist and whitelist in mobile operator’s system. But not all of you use Esia as you wireless provider or mobile operator. We can use alternative to use client software for creating whitelist and blacklist feature.
For example when you are in meeting, or you just don’t want accept incoming call after office hour, callguard can help to avoid you from unexpected and undesireable calls in inappropiate time. What you need is you just create whitelist and blacklist number, create schedule and choose what that software have to do.

Another action should you take is you can send SMS automatically to whom you reject calls for telling why you didn’t want to accept their calls. So where can I get the installer of that software and how to setting it ?

Android Google beat Blackberry RIM ?

In the previous article, i wrote about high potential of Google Nexus one became a big challenge to iPhone. In device side, especially in features, Google Nexus One has big chance to beat iPhone Apple, such as in LED pixels, shape in thin and dimension which is smaller than iPhone.
Google doesn’t stop until there, Android will have also big challenge to another vendors like Research in Motion ( RIM ) with its product Blackberry. Google as big Internet network company sees the challenge to beat RIM service like Blackberry Internet Service ( BIS )  and Blackberry Enterprise Server ( BES ). What kind of things Google sees the challenge ?
